... I would probably have a regular job with no much freedom. Joomla is free and it enabled me to be free. Without Joomla, I would be poorer for the enormous experience I gained working in a team of very gifted people and would never realise what it means to be part of a large, global community. Just like 10 years ago, when I helped found this project, I find a great joy in meeting new people with different backgrounds but sharing the same vision. I continue getting inspired to constantly learn more and be a better person.

Without Joomla wine nights with Chad would be boring.

Because of Joomla we solve problems that no one person can on their own. We formed a community with a common purpose, where we bring together ideas and share knowldege. We build software that no one person could do on their own.

Without Joomla! I wouldn’t be the person I am today. I hadn’t traveled so much just to speak with others about software. I hadn’t met so many great minds. I learned a lot about leadership and why working together on something BIG can make so much fun. I learned when diplomatic behaviour is best and when I shouldn’t give a fuck. Might be that all had happened without Joomla! and it is only a sign I am getting older, but why ruin an illusion :-) Happy Birthday Joomla!

... I would not have the perfect job. I would not be able to fully pour my creativity into something that makes me and other happy.

Without Joomla I would not have met some extraordinary and brilliant people who inspire me on a day-to-day basis.

Without Joomla I'd probably be a frustrated Wordpress developer :P

I would not have met thousands upon thousands of such great people. People that demonstrated the most amazing aspects of the human race: generosity, kindness, strength, dedication, creativity, energy, practicality, and more.

While many folks (and most of the developers of course) will be focusing on the software for this particular anniversary, I'll be thinking specifically about the people behind the software, as well as the massive community that really made it what it is today.

I had the honor of being introduced at JoomlaDay Italia a few years ago, and felt the same rush of emotion as when I was called up on stage at LinuxWorld in Boston so many years ago to accept the Best Open Source award on behalf of the project. After ten years that feeling is still the same, and probably will never change for me. Simply awesome.

Without Joomla there would be such a huge gap in the past ten years of my life,it is pretty difficult to put it into words. This project has meant a tremendous amount to me, and has been an excellent teacher for a great many lessons that I clearly needed to learn :-)

So happy birthday Joomla, and happy anniversary to the Joomla Community, which has been the special sauce all along. And a special, personal thank you to each and every one of you, who made this such a success in the past, as well as the new generation who continue that traditiion today.
